Palau / Truk Lagoon

MARCH / APRIL 2017

Level of Diving

Diving will be in warm water off of a liveaboard dive boat. Water temperatures are 70F-85F. Minimum 3mm wetsuit is recommended as you may be doing 3-4 dives each day. Some dive sites are suited for intermediate to advanced level divers. Proof of a minimum of 25 logged open water dives in the past 24 months is required to book this trip.

Destinations

Check of two of the best dives destinations in the world.... all in one trip! Palau and Truk Lagoon are world-renowned for their diving. Booking groups with Agressor and Odyssey are usually years in advance due to their popularity. With this trip, you have options. Enjoy the best of both worlds, or just one. We will be spending 1 week in Palau aboard the Agressor II and then moving over to Truk Lagoon where you can stay aboard the Odyssey for either 1 week or 2 weeks. Join us for one, two, or three weeks of the trip, it is your choice!

The best flight path is to Guam and then to either Palau or Truk Lagoon. If you decide to enjoy both destinations, there are flights between Palau, Guam, and Truk Lagoon. For air travel, expect about 5 hours between Los Angeles & Honolulu, then 7 hours from Honolulu to Guam, and another 2 hours from Guam to either Chuuk or Palau.

Diving Palau

Palau is located 900 miles southwest of Guam and 400 miles south of Yap, at the westernmost edge of Micronesia. Palau is north of New Guinea and east of the Philippines. It is surrounded by warm, tropical water with spectacular reefs, walls, and wrecks, making Palau a diver's paradise. Palau is also very scenic above the water, with azure lagoons and white sandy beaches. The Rock Islands, mushroom shaped limestone formations with rainforest foliage, provide unparalleled tropical beaty.

You'll be diving in water that averages 70-85F. Most guests make as many as 3-4 dives each day, so some sort of protection is needed, a 3mm wetsuit should be comfortable and adequate. Dive computers are mandatory and DIN adapters are available. Most diving in Palau is drift diving so guests should be comfortable in a current. While on board, you may pick a dive buddy of your choice or dive with one of the yacht's crewmembers. All dives are made from the 35 foot custom built high speed, outboard skiff capable of carrying 18 guests for quick access to even the most remote dive sites. The tenders return to the mother ship after each dive. In between dives, you may snorkel, explore the secluded beaches, or just relax with a cold drink and snack. Guests may dive up to 4-5 dives per day and there is night diving on 3 nights of the charter, weather permitting.
