Description

Divers who have completed the SDI Supervised Diver course, the PADI Scuba Diver course, or SSI Scuba Diver course, or similar. With these certifications, you are limited to diving with a diving professional (instructor or divemaster). If you would like to complete your extra dives to earn your Open Water Diver Certification, there are a few more steps to complete.

  1. Provide proof of previous training as mentioned above (within the past 12 months)
  2. Complete the SDI Online training course including the final exam
  3. Pool Refresher with an instructor to demonstrate comfort, competence, and confidence with all required water skills (including the use of hood & gloves). If the instructor feels that the diver is NOT ready to complete the open water dives, they will inform the student and provide guidance on extra training or practice required.
  4. Complete 4 dives with the instructor over 2 days (upon completion, candidates will earn the SDI Open Water Diver certification as well as the SDI Cold Water Diver specialty certification)
